12 Apr Eidos, here is the preview!
It’s finally time to unveil a sneak peek of Eidos, our new collection designed by Kensaku Oshiro, waiting for the official launch in September.
After two work years, it is a real pleasure to be able to disclose to you the first pieces of the collection.
Andrea Vaselli’s words during the preview:
“With Eidos, we pushed our design and production abilities toward new limits, creating something of rupture and continuity at the same time.
We must congratulate Ken for this, because he not only pushed us to our limits, but he was able to immerse himself in our culture and in the world of stone and, with great respect for the matter, he captured our true essence.”
With these two first iconic pieces of the collection, we offer a preview of Kensaku Oshiro’s interpretation of the Vaselli world and the Rapolano Travertine culture.
In such a way Kensaku describes its first experience with the world of stone:
“It was an amazing experience for me to see behind the Vaselli’s marble production, not only by the technical side but also by the cultural one.
During the collaboration, I understood we were “walking” on the stratification of the know-how accumulated by different generations of artisans. You can see it clearly in the factory and also in the Rapolano medieval town.”
The unveiled elements are perfect to sum up the designer’s work.
They are pieces carved from the block, with an extreme lightening process, during which the stone malleability has been taken to the limit, using new solutions to keep the elements solid without invalidating their design.
The first disclosed elements can’t be identified by one only function, like seating or sideboard.
Here is how the designer describes them:
“We have the option with the door or drawer and completely open. They could be located in the bedroom, bathroom, or living area. Or also in outdoor space.
So I want to say that they are really versatile objects.”
The complete concept and collection will be unveiled in September, during the official launch, which will come with the publication of a monothematic book dedicated to Eidos, in which Kensaku will tell us his vision with evocative words and images.
In the meanwhile, the Eidos preview will be displayed in Milan, at Listone Giordano Arena. The space is visitable only by appointment.
